Why is web design knowledge critical for instructional technology leaders in the K-12 environment?

I think it is critical because, as stated in my Perfect World Blog, all staff members should have a website to better communicate with their students and their parents. In many buildings it is an IT person who does put the content on the pages for the teachers or at least sets up the web pages for the staff. I also think it is important so they can make adjustments even to ones that are created using other sources such as iWeb. In todays high speed world education has to keep up or parents and students will lose faith in the system. This means constant learning for educators. We must improve ourselves to improve the lives of our students. An IT person has to be very aware of changes in the future. They are the resource for the other educators in their building.
